Education in Australia

Engineering:

Engineering Schools in Australia provide professional qualifications over a range of engineering specializations. Civil, Management, Mechanical, Power Generation, Electrical, Mechatronics etc are a selected few out of the many. There are 37 engineering schools in Australia which might seem a large number for a country with a population of approximately 20 million, but it offers the international student an extensive range of choices of place, size of school and educational approach. Though the schools in Australia offer high quality education, many have a strong research focus, allowing students to participate in leading research activities, whilst others interact more closely with industry, as students deal with real-world engineering. Australian engineering schools are all regulated by the Institution of Engineers Australia, This professional body whose members are practicing engineers and which is dedicated to establishing and maintaining the reputation and standing of engineers trained at Australian universities. It is for this reason that the Institute will only accredit an Australian university engineering course if it meets the highest standards of content, facilities, staff and above all quality of the graduates produced.

Australian educated engineers can be found working everywhere in today's globalized community. This is especially true of South and South-East Asia, many now at very senior positions in industry, or in government, with some of them having their own companies.
