Green Talents, an International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development has invited research scholars from across the world to apply for the annual Green Talent awards.
The awards hosted annually by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) felicitates 25 young international researchers and recognizes their efforts in making an outstanding contribution to their sustainable development. The awards aim to promote the universal exchange of innovative green ideas.
The theme for the Green Talent Award 2019 is ‘Smart Green Planet – Solutions for a Sustainable Future’. The researchers interested to apply can register before May 22, 2019. Green Talent award opens new avenues for students and exposes them to an outstanding network of excellent scientists and Germany’s sustainability research elite; thus, giving them an opportunity to promote their ideas.
International candidates applying for the Green Talent awards have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Hold a Master Degree/Ph.D. or currently enrolled in a Post Graduate or Ph.D. program.
- Must have completed Masters/Ph.D. not more than 3 years before the end of the application period.
- Record of performing above-average academically.
- Focused on sustainable development.
- Proficient in the English language.
The Green Talent award is specially designed for the international applicants; German citizens or residents are not applicable for the award.
The winners receive a fully-funded invitation to participate in Green Talents Science Forum 2019. The invitation includes a visit to leading German sustainability facilities, institutions, and companies with exclusive insights into the pioneering research and projects of the winner.
The awardee will receive an individual appointment with the German experts of their choice to discuss possibilities for their upcoming joint research and cooperation efforts. Moreover, they will have access to the networking opportunities at the 10-year-anniversary Green Talents alumni conference in Berlin.
Winners will also receive a fully-funded Research Stay for up to 3 months at an institution of their own choice in Germany in 2020. Also, the winners will have access to the prestigious Green Talents alumni network.
In 2018, three candidates from India were selected for the Green Talent Award, which was the highest number of candidates being selected from a single country.
Among the winners, Ishani Khurana was pursuing a Ph.D. in Synthesis of Graphene-Based Materials for the Removal of Water Pollutants at the University of Delhi. The other two winners comprised of Vishal Tripathi and Mohit Saraf, pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Technology (Banaras Hindu University) and Nanotechnology – Material Science (IIT, Indore) respectively.
