Despite the negative media coverage and racist reports, there is growing number of Indian and Chinese students enrolling for Australian universities. Based on the new statistics released by the Australian Department of Home Affairs, there are 190,000 international students applied to study in Australia between July and December 2017, which shows an increase in 14.1% in 2016. According to reports, there are 32% of Indian applicants and 13% of Chinese applicants among the prospective students. More than 90% i.e. 41,000 applicants were issued study permit among that 20,000 were Indian nationals. The number of student visa granted has increased by 7%. The Australian universities such as New South Wales, Queensland, Deakin, and Canberra have seen an increase in the number of Indian students during the year 2017.
