Bissett School of Business of Mount Royal University, Calgary, Alberta introduces three new majors in business degree programs that will help students stand out in their job searches. Alberta province recently approved the university’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a major in Finance, International Business, and Supply Chain Management. The General Faculties Council officially accepted these new majors universally on May 16, 2019.
MRU’s degree majors have now reached to 36 including these three new majors, which are considered as a significant step to the goal of 50 majors with the degree by 2025. From July 1, 2019, current eligible BBA, students were allowed to choose and declare the new majors as per their interest and recognizing their career needs. Bissett School of Business has offered concentrations in Financial Analysis, Financial Services, International Business, and Supply Chain Management; students may now be eligible to declare their majors and graduate as early as fall 2019.
According to Elizabeth Evans, dean of MRU’s Bissett School of Business, ‘This is a monumental point in our development and it is a solidification of what business school stands for.’, further she added that major in finance is considered as the backbone of a strong business school.
A formal launch for these new majors is planned for the next fall intake when the first students will be welcomed into the programs. Students are eligible to declare their majors and graduate from the business school by September – December 2019 with previously provided courses focused on financial analysis, financial services, international business, and supply chain management. The new additions of majors will be a part of the 2020 Spring Convocation.
